***side note-Easy Registry has a function to back up the registry but if your system is having issues it may not run properly so I back it up manually just to be extra cautious.

Run Registry Easy
Select Scan & Clean
Now click Registry Cleaner
At the far right bottom click Scan Now

This will start the registry scan process. Registry Easy will search for bad software settings, entries for startup programs, invalid registry Keys, and bad file associations and fix them automatically.

Once the scan is complete select repair. Now the repair process is complete. You should notice a boost in your PCs performance after a reboot. But before we do that I want to show you some other steps you can take to further speed up your system. I am going to throw in a bonus step and although its is not related to your registry it still is a necessary step in improving your computer's performance.

Windows XP Registry Fix Step #4 .

Lets revisit the Scan & Clean menu option but this time lets select the evidence cleaner. This will empty out all your temp, history and cookies directories Internet Explorer and other programs use for its cache. It also removes the history of all your programs such as Media players and web browsers for those of you who don't want people to know what you have been doing on your computer. It would be a great idea to run this program every month. This will keep Internet Explorer and other programs from slowing you down.

You should also run the system optimizer, Internet optimizer and Memory tweak as well as running the BHO Manager and the IE restore utilities from the IE tools selection. Your system will love you for it. Make sure to reboot your system after completing these tasks. It would be ideal to run these utilities at least once a month. Think of it in terms of tuning up your car or changing the oil. Your car would eventually start running sluggish and in time breakdown if you ignored its maintenance needs. The same thing will happen to your computer if you don't take care of it. So take the extra time to run these programs and your computer will keep running at peek performance.
